…is a viola player from Lurgan, Co. Armagh. After receiving viola lessons through the SELB whilst at school, she went on to further study viola with Ashley Mason, the then Principal Viola of the Ulster Orchestra.
She became an inaugural member of the Ulster Youth Orchestra in 1994 and continued her studies at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now Royal Conservatoire of Scotland), in Glasgow, obtaining a BMus (Performance) degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance.
She now works widely as a freelance viola player and teacher and has performed with many different orchestras and ensembles, including the Ulster Orchestra, Camerata Ireland, RTE National Symphony Orchestra, RTE Concert Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet and the Belfast Ensemble. Aoife enjoys continually learning and improving her playing and teaching skills and has recently participated in masterclasses with Bruno Giuranna, Maxim Rysanov, Alexander Zemtsov and Máté Szùcs. Aoife is a founder member of the Belfast Ensemble.
